Up North: A Look Back at the Champions of the 2020 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon

Nearly 60 mushers and their dog sled teams departed Billy’s Bar in Duluth on Sunday to embark on a race up the North Shore in the 2020 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. All of them were in pursuit of the finish line that could them take hours or even days depending on the race.


Ryan Redington won the 2020 marathon finishing just after 4:35 P.M. Tuesday evening. It marks Redington's second victory at the Beargrease and first sine 2018. Erin Schouweiler won the Beargrease 120 title finishing just before 5:40 A.M Monday morning. Her mother-in-law and four-time Beargrease 120 champion Martha Schouweiler won the Beargrease 40 that finishes in Two Harbors.
