Duluth, Minn. - Grandma's weekend is fast approaching and many are getting miles in routinely. Kyle Sather ran for CSS and he's registered for the full marathon, which will be his fifth at Grandma's. Running isn't just a routine for him, it's a habit.

At Prior Lake High School, 10th Grade is when Kyle Sather picked up a new sport.

"I had missed baseball tryouts and figured I guess need something to do and I started with track and field," says Sather.

Now 27 and working as a mental health therapist in Duluth, running still gives him something to do. In fact, it is a big part of his life. A daily deed

"When I had started, I was kind of in a rough spot in my life and I just didn't like the direction things were going and I was coming off a pretty rough patch and I kind of needed something I could rely on. Let me try and do something every single day," says Sather.

On September 13, 2016, Kyle ran. With that date behind him, the focus has been on the future. One day turned into two, two turned into three. Like 'Forrest Gump'...

"I just felt like running."

Rain or shine, cold or warm, wind and water and yes....snow. Whatever the weather is or even if a treadmill is needed, it is at least a mile for Kyle.

"Within every 24 hour period, so between midnight and midnight, gotta log one mile"

That's the guidelines from the United States Running Streak Association. He didn't even know that existed until a few months into his streak.

We caught up with Kyle on June 6th as the streak reached 997. On June 9th,1,000 in a row. The 43rd Grandma's Marathon will mark 1,013 straight days.

Running every day, but what about those day's where relaxing might be more appealing?

"Those days happen, particularly after long runs."

His longest run during the streak has been a 50K (31.1 mile run). Is there an end date?

"I don't think there has to be one - people have asked me that and I have thought about it - but I think, why bother stopping - I want to see how far I can get," says Sather.
