Lake effect snow will begin tonight along the South Shore, continuing into Friday. Higher snow amounts are possible over portions of Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron Counties. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Ashland and Bayfield County and a Winter Storm Warning for Iron County. Locally high amounts of 12-18” are possible near Hurley. Snowfall rates could exceed 1 inch per hour in northern Iron County this evening.

Roads could become snow covered, and motorists should be prepared for slippery conditions in Bayfield and Ashland County to dangerous/near impossible conditions in Iron County. Cold air takes over for the weekend too. We will see overnight low in the single digits and the possibility of wind chills values below zero. Temperatures looks to begin warming up by through next week.
