Ticker–A Wisconsin DNR board member wants more money to maintain public land
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A member of the state Department of Natural Resources policy board says the agency needs to spend more money on maintaining public land. Greg Kazmierski told the board Wednesday that he’s worried the agency has bought so many acres that it has fallen behind on efforts to sustain wildlife populations on the land.
He drafted a resolution asking the Legislature’s finance committee to provide what he terms adequate funding for habitat management programs and maintaining public lands and facilities. The resolution doesn’t lay out a specific dollar amount. The board is expected to vote on the resolution at its next meeting in April.
