It turns out UW-Superior is only one of a few four-year campuses in the University of Wisconsin System to show growth this fall.

Preliminary figures reported Wednesday show that only three of the 13 campuses saw enrollment increases when compared with last year. UW-Madison's enrollment grew 6%, UW-Green Bay grew 3%, and UW-Superior grew 2%.

Among the other campuses, the biggest drop was 11% at UW-Platteville followed by an 8% decline at UW-River Falls. Overall, the systemwide enrollment is down 1%.

Interim UW President Tommy Thompson said the past 18 months have been incredibly challenging for all of higher education.
