Remains of Superior soldier killed in Korean War are home again

Army Corporal Francis "Sonny" Rochon is home again. His remains were escorted back to Superior on Wednesday evening by the Minnesota Patriot Guard. They landed at the MSP Airport on Wednesday afternoon.


The 21-year-old died in battle in the Korean War in 1950. His remains were never identified until this June.

He has a trio of sisters who still live in the Northland.

Rochon's funeral service is Saturday at Downs Funeral Home in Superior. Visitation is at 10am, with the service at 11, and a full military honors burial to follow.
