There is a new store opening in Superior without a cash register. The Ruth House is in the finishing process of organizing its free store. The store is located at 1423 Belknap Street in Superior.

It is a place where people in the community can come and get anything they need for free. With all the donations they take in, the ministry wants to turn it back to those who need it.

“Well, a lot of the folks that we ministry with don’t have a dollar or two. So we want to make it accessible for anybody regardless of status or stature, coming in to get whatever they need and not having to pay for it,” said Jack Swonger, Senior Pastor at Ruth House Ministry.

This new and only ‘free store’ in Superior will be able to help the people in the community on so many levels. You will never have to worry about anyone looking at you differently from the moment you step foot in the store.

“Nobody is judged here. If there is something you need please it’s here. If we have it, please take it. It gets tough sometimes watching folks that don’t have anything. And to watch them grab a shirt or take a pair of pants, you can see the smile on their face. That’s payment enough!”

If you would like to donate to the Ruth Free Store, stop by, and the volunteers will help unload your items. The store is accepting donations of clean clothing and outerwear (jackets, snow pants, boots) of all sizes. Also, small household items, toys in good shape, towels, blankets, rugs, etc. There will also be a small food shelf available so non-expired canned and dry goods are welcome, as well!

The store will be open three days a week to start. Monday and Wednesday, the store will be open from 9 am to 3 pm. On Saturday, it will be open from 8 am to 2 pm.
