The Superior Police department says foul play was not involved in the death of a man whose remains were found this week.

Family and friends recently reported the 53-year-old man missing, prompting authorities to search a wooded area south of the Lakeside Terrace mobile home park in the Itasca neighborhood on Wednesday.  Human remains were found in the area.

The department says an examination of the remains at the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Anoka found that foul play was not involved. The remains are believed to be those of the man reported missing, though the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is still working to confirm the identity.

The department said in a news release that it extends its deepest condolences to the man's family and friends.
