An 49-year old Blaine, Minnesota man is in custody following an overnight incident in Superior.

A firearm was discharged several times behind The Palace Bar in the 1100 block alley of Tower Avenue.

Superior police were called dispatched to the alley behind The Palace Bar just after 1:15 Thursday morning. Callers reported a male was firing a gun into the air.

Officers arrived in the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect in the parking lot the Cobblestone Hotel.

The man, Todd Gerald Peterson was taken into custody.

Officers were told Peterson had been kicked out of The Palace Bar by bar staff shortly before the incident.

Police reports indicate that Peterson had caused numerous disturbances in the bar, and had struck the bouncer in the face prior to leaving.

Patrons later called 911 to report Peterson was behind the bar in the alley, threatening to shoot the bouncer. The patrons then heard shots coming from the alley. Police say shell casings and a handgun were recovered from the scene.

Peterson was lodged at the Douglas County Jail, and charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, and Going Armed While Intoxicated have been requested and forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney's Office.
