Updated: November 09, 2020 10:35 PM

The University of Wisconsin-Superior, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the UW System, is hosting a new COVID-19 surge testing site.

The testing site, currently planned to be open for 5 to 6 weeks, and is located in the Mertz Mortorelli Gym in the Marcovich Wellness Center at 1810 Catlin Avenue in Superior.

The tests are self-administered nasal swabs, with medical-staff supervision, that are processed and show results in about 30 minutes.

Those being tested are able to wait in their car or a designated area if they wish to remain on site for their results, or they can leave and receive the results digitally.

The tests are free and open to anyone over the age of 5 whether they are symptomatic or not, but everyone must preregister at www.doineedacovid19test.com before going in.

The site is currently open Monday through Friday for 2 to 6 p.m.
