AMSOIL employees collected 550 pounds worth of food for the Rural Care and Share Food Shelf.

The food shelf services those in Douglas County and Bayfield County in Wisconsin.

The food drive replaced AMSOIL’s usual annual chili cook off that they’ve used to help raise money in the past, but couldn’t hold this year due to the pandemic.

Despite the change, the company and its employees still felt they needed to do something for the community.

"Typically after the Christmas holiday and the giving time, food shelves are really looking for more support,” said Scott Davis, the Vice President of Operations at AMSOIL, “When you start getting in January and February, it's really a good time to do a drive like this to give them a little supplement."

Originally, AMSOIL set a goal of 500 pounds, but when everything was accounted for, not only had they raised 50 pounds more than that, but they also raised an additional $1,110 in monetary donations.

Due to the success of the food drive this year, AMSOIL plans to hold another, on top of their chili cook off, next year and they plan to donate to a Minnesota food shelf that time.
