Superior Shuts Out Medford to Advance to D2 Section 1 Semifinals

The third seeded Superior boy's hockey team shutout sixth Medford 8-0 at Wessman Arena Thursday night in the Division 2 Section 1 quarterfinals. Thursday night's match was the first round in the Wisconsin prep hockey playoffs.


Gunnar Hansen and Kobe Hansen each scored two goals in the Spartan's 8-0 victory. 

Thursday night marked the first game Superior has played in the Division 2 playoffs. The WIAA split into two division after last season. 

With second seeded Hayward's 12-0 victory over the seventh seeded Chequamegon Co-op, they advance to face Superior in the semifinals. 

The semifinal match will be held in Hayward, but the date and time are still to be determined. The section championship will be held back at Wessman Arena. 

The seventh seeded Superior/Northwestern girl's season ended Thursday after the Spartans fell 3-1 to second seeded River Falls in the Division 1 quarterfinals.
