Western Intermediate is made up of mostly 13-year olds from neighborhoods and communities in the western side of Duluth. They'll face the host team Kalamazoo on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Region Tournament. The tourney is double-elimination.

Western Intermediate Head Coach Nick Garramone says they'll have to stick to the basics.

"Do the little things. You know, we need to make the plays, make the routine plays, and come up with some big plays," says Garramone.

"Just play our game, not focus on other teams how good they are or how bad they are, just do what we do.," says Carter Kilroy, who plays catcher.

"I think our energy because if we're not, we're down on each other then we aren't that successful at winning games it's like at lake park we were really hyped up and we won," says Joshua Vegar, who plays outfield.
