Multiple Vikings players will miss Saturday's practice session at TCO Stadium due to COVID-19 concerns, the team announced.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, three quarterbacks are sitting out after rookie Kellen Mond tested positive for the virus. Starting quarterback Kirk Cousins is one of the players who won't play because he is considered a high-risk close contact.

In a news conference, head coach Mike Zimmer said backup quarterback Jake Browning was spared and will get all of the reps Saturday night.

"Jake Browning is vaccinated. That helps to be the backup," Zimmer said. "It's important to be available when you're playing football — a team sport."

Zimmer also expressed his frustration at the situation arising just a week after assistant coach Rick Dennison parted ways with the team because he refused to get the vaccine.

"I'm not frustrated just with my players who won't get vaccinated," he said. "I'm frustrated with everybody. It's just disappointing."

The NFL changed its COVID-19 policy this season and will not reschedule matchups in the event of a coronavirus outbreak in a club's locker room. Any team that has an outbreak among unvaccinated players could be forced to forfeit and take on the financial burden of canceling the game.
