Boats gathered at the charter dock on Barkers Island to take the group of veterans out.

Groups from Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and the Douglas County Veteran Service Office helped arrange the outing.

"It shows that we're fisherman. You know, we're a fishing group and a sports group and we can step outside of that. It's not always about chasing fish and chasing game, it's about giving back too," said James Vanlandschoot the Director of the Douglas County Fishing Game League.

Fishing went from 7 -2 PM. A BBQ followed the outing right at Barkers Island.
