Yellowjacket Athletics to Host Telethon for Annual Superior Day of Giving

The University of Wisconsin-Superior plans to hold it's sixth annual Superior Day of Giving on Tuesday.

This year Yellowjackets Athletics will host an inaugural telethon due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fundraising drive goes directly to the programs to provide apparel, training equipment, meals, and more.

"We're very fortunate. We have a very good network of donors that help us do a lot of the different things we do. Something like this, maybe it helps us reach some alumni, some friends, some families that we haven't necessarily been able to do before because we've never sort of brought every program into one thing like this," said Jon Garver, the Athletic Communications and External Relations Manager at UWS.

The telethon plans to feature UWS coaches and faculty and will run from 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the iFan Sports Network on channel 3.

"We more or less are trying to block out a little bit of time for each coach to come in talk about their program, talk about their needs, talk about why the fundraising piece is so important. I don't think it's any secret that universities have to find ways to raise capital," added Garver.
