UWS tops Northland to advance to WIAC semifinals

The fourth seeded University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) women's hockey team defeated fifth seeded Northland College 6-2 Monday afternoon in the first round of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) O'Brien Cup playoffs. 

Amber Heidenreich scored two goals for UWS while Jenna Curtis contributed one goal and two assists. 

Karadyn Kiviaho and Mahteya Dumelie each scored for Northland.

UWS' McKenzie Whalen made 14 saves in net while Soleil Archambeault made 53 saves for the Lumberjills. 

Northland finishes their season 0-9.

The Yellowjackets advance to the WIAC semifinals. They're set to visit top-seeded University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Wednesday at 2pm. For the full bracket, click here.
