The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) battled back in extra innings against the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) softball team to advance to day two of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament, while Northland College's season came to an end.
After downing Northland earlier on the day, UWS earned a two-game sweep with a 5-4 victory over the Saints.
Jessica Jacobson went 4-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning and the game-winning RBI double in the eighth. Olivia Bancroft-Hart was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
The Yellowjackets move on to face Northwestern Friday at noon in a winners'-bracket game. CSS will play Bethany Lutheran at 2 P.M.
After falling to UWS earlier in the day, Northland's season came to an end with an 8-0 loss to Bethany Lutheran.
The Jills finished their season with a 17-19 overall record (9-7 UMAC).
