UMD Volleyball Remains 6th in AVCA Division II Poll

Duluth, Minn. - After starting the 2019 season 3-1, UMD volleyball remains sixth for the second consecutive week, the No. 6 spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II poll.


UMD has been ranked in every poll since Sept. 10, 2002 - a stretch of 234 consecutive polls, the longest active streak in Division II.

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Confernece (NSIC) has six teams in the top 25 and two more just outside the poll. Northern State University slid up two spots to No. 7 while Augustana University hopped up one spot to No. 22. Wayne State College made its first appearance of the season at No. 20. Winona State University dropped out of the top 25 but is still mentioned with Upper Iowa University with receiving votes.

The NSIC has five teams in the top 25 and four more just outside the poll. Southern Minnesota State University and Concordia-St. Paul both drop spots, SMSU from nine to 15, and CSP from five to 10. Meanwhile, Northern state University climbs one spot to claim seventh. Wayne State College made its first appearance of the season at No. 20. Upper Iowa, Winona State, Sioux Falls and St. Cloud State and received votes.

UMD heads to St. Cloud, Minn. to compete in the St. Cloud State Invitational on Sept. 12-14. The Bulldogs will face off against Michigan Tech University on Thursday.
