No. 1 Bulldogs Fall to Alberta 5-3 in Exhibition Game

Justin Richards, Dylan Samberg, and Nick Swaney each tallied goals in the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey 2019-2020 season opener, but it wasn't enough as the No. 1 ranked Bulldogs suffered a 5-3 loss in an exhibition match against the University of Alberta.

Hunter Shepard had nine saves allowing one goal, while Benn Patt had 14 saves letting in four goals.

The back-to-back defending national champion Bulldogs will drop the puck on the regular season next week. UMD is set to host the University of Massachusetts Lowell for a two-game series beginning Friday. The Bulldogs also plan to unveil their 2019 national championship banner Friday before puck drop. Both games are set for 7:07 P.M.
