The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women's hockey team put the wraps on the 2018-2019 season as head coach Maura Crowell met with media members Wednesday afternoon for her final press conference of the season.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the season with a sweep of Bemidji State University (BSU) in a best-of-three series against the Beavers in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Playoffs. With the win, UMD advanced to the WCHA Final Face-Off where the team saw their season come to an end against in-state rival and the No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota.

UMD fell to the Gophers 4-1 and finished the season 15-16-5 overall with a 9-11-4 conference record. The team will graduate three seniors from this year's squad, but are excited for what the future holds especially with nine freshman returning next season.

"With a year of experience under their belts, you know the nine that just experienced Division I hockey at the WCHA level for the first time, coming back next year they're going to be that much more mature and knowledgeable about what it takes to go the long haul," said Crowell.

Kasundra Betinol (Okotoks, Alberta), Mannon McMahon (Maple Grove, Minn.), and Taylor Stewart (Rochester, Minn.) are the three recruits set to join the Bulldog program beginning with the 2019-20 season.
