Yellowjackets and 2 Saints Earn UMAC Weekly Honors

The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) has named their weekly award winners and two athletes from St. Scholastica and three from UW-Superior have been honored.

In baseball, UW-Superior sophomore Cory Albertson is the Player of the Week. The Stillwater native lead Wisconsin-Superior to five-straight wins on the week. He hit 7-for-17 (.411) with 11 RBI and seven runs scored, as well as connecting on three home runs and a double and drawing five walks.

Duluth native Vanessa Kohl of St. Scholastica is the Softball Pitcher of the Week. The senior pitched four wins to help Saints to regular-season title. She recorded season-high 10 strikeouts in win over Northland and held their opponents to .211 average and struck out 18 in 25.2 innings.

Serhii Tykhonenko of St. Scholastica is the Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The sophomore from Ukraine collected four total wins in Saints' two title-clinching victories. He picked up pair of straight-set No. 1 singles victories and paired for doubles wins at No. 1 spot with Elliot Schneider.

Noah Potratz of Wisconsin-Superior is the Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The senior from Ripon, Wisconsin won the javelin for the third time this season and recorded a throw of 54.66 meters (179-4). He also remains atop UMAC leaderboard in the javelin.

The Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week is Svenja Ruehl of Wisconsin-Superior. The senior from Germany won both long and triple jump events at UMD Open. She had a PR long jump of 5.57 meters (18-3.25) is 32nd in NCAA Division III and had a season-best triple jump of 11.61 meters (38-1.25) ranks 18th in nation.
