Two-Goal First Period Powers CEC Past Hutchinson

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team put away two goals in the first period to power the Lumberjacks past Hutchinson winning 2-0 in the Class A state girls hockey quarterfinal game Wednesday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center.


Jenna Zdebski scored the first goal for the 'Jacks just 90 seconds into the game. With about 5 minutes remaining in the first period Dana Jones gave CEC a 2-0 lead.

Freshman goaltender Araya Kiminski earned the shut out victory.

CEC (26-3) advances to the Class A state semifinal round and will face second-seeded Warroad on Friday at the Xcel Energy Center. Puck drop is set for 11 A.M.
