CSS Volleyball, UWS Women's Soccer Advance in UMAC Tournaments

After tallying wins Monday evening, the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) volleyball team and University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) women's soccer team advanced in their respective Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) tournaments.

The Saints swept Bethany Lutheran in straight sets to advance. Brooke Schermann led the team with 19 digs and 11 kills.

CSS will battle the number one seed, the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn. at 7 P.M. Wednesday in the semifinal round.

After going scoreless through regulation and two overtimes, the Yellowjackets outlasted the University of Minnesota- Morris in penalty kicks winning 5-4. Claire Smith’s goal in the sixth round was the difference.

Up next, UWS will take on St. Scholastica, the top seed, Wednesday at Saints Field. Game time is set for 1:30 P.M.
