South Ridge and Cherry baseball have met in the Section 7A championship two seasons in a row, with Cherry coming out on top in the 2024 season and earning their trip to state. On Thursday, the two teams would meet in the 2025 regular season, both looking for to come out with the win.

The South Ridge Panthers would start the scoring off hot in the bottom of the first inning, tallying four in their first at-bats of the game.

Cherry would put themselves on the board in the top of the second on a pass ball. But the Panthers would keep the scoring going in the bottom of the second, tallying another three on a home run from Ben Pretansky.

South Ridge would then bring the score to 11-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Both teams would hold strong defensively, keeping each other from crossing home plate for the rest of the game.

South Ridge takes the win 11-1.
