This winter Ero Wallin hit the trails in the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. As the youngest musher leading a team of dogs, he finished in sixth place overall. Now, he's committed to joining a new pack of huskies, this time on the diamond.

On Wednesday, the Silver Bay slugger signed his national letter of intent to play baseball for St. Cloud State University.

With the Mariners, he led the state in ten offensive categories including batting average with .657, home runs with 11, and RBI with 67. The 2021 Mr. Baseball finalist was coached by his father this spring and is following in both of his parents footsteps.

"There was a handful of colleges that I had to pick from and then both my parents ended up going to St. Cloud State. When I toured there, I just fell in love with the facilities and I just kind of fell in love with it right away," said Wallin.

"We never pushed the school on him. They picked him and he fell in love with the facilities and the head coach is awesome. We're really excited and really proud," said his father Ward Wallin.

"His numbers on Minnesota Baseball Hub were off the charts. I'm just really proud and he's been fun to watch," said Ero's mom Colleen Wallin.

Wallin will begin his journey with the Huskies July 19.
