Sandelin confirmed to Matt Wellens of WDIO's media partner, the Duluth News Tribune, that he traveled to Anaheim Monday to discuss the Ducks' Head Coaching job, saying "I said I'd listen" and adding he enjoyed the experience. In April, Sandelin was asked about NHL possibilities and he said then he wasn't looking for any opportunity and planned to remain at UMD, but he also did say if someone called, he'd listen.

Anaheim has other candidates and there could also be other rounds of interviews.

In 19 seasons, Sandelin has guided UMD to a program record 369 wins and 3 NCAA Titles.
