Walk-Off Sends South Ridge to State, Esko Earns 4th Straight Trip

In prep softball playoffs, South Ridge, Esko and Cloquet won their sections Thursday to advance to the state tournament.

In Section 7A, Cherry needed to defeat South Ridge twice to advance to State. It was 0-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when Alana Young hit a walk-off RBI single giving South Ridge the 1-0 victory. This is South Ridge's first ever trip to the state tournament. 

In Section 7AA, Esko clinched their fourth straight trip to State after defeating Proctor 8-1. 

In Section 7AAA, Chisago Lakes defeated Cloquet 2-0 in game one, forcing game two. It would take eight innings before Cloquet defeated Chisago Lakes 3-2 punching their ticket to State. Breea Rasmussen scored on the walk-off for the Lumberjacks. 

In Section 5A, Hinckley-Finlayson fell 8-1 to Isle ending their season. 

The state tournament is June 6-7 in North Mankato. Quarterfinals and semifinals are on June 6th. The championship will be played June 7th.
