Long Ball Leads DeLaSalle to Win Over Hibbing in State AAA Quarters

Minneapolis, Minn. - Senior Abbey McDonald had 16 points and Hibbing took a 30-28 lead into halftime. But, top-seeded DeLaSalle is the one that advanced to the semifinals with a 61-53 win the State AAA Quarterfinals at Maturi Pavilion on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

The Islanders connected on 7 of their 14 three-point attempts as they continue their quest for a fourth state championship in their 10th overall state tournament appearance and third consecutive state bid.

Leading all scorers was freshman Sydney Runsewe for DeLaSalle with 18 points. She was 6-of-9 shooting and 5-of-6 from three-point land.

DeLaSalle advances to the State AAA Semifinals and will play Thursday at 12 p.m. at Williams Arena. Hibbing lost for just the third time this season. They will play in the consolation semifinals on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul.
