#1 Hilltoppers Top #2 Minnehaha Academy As Duluth Marshall Baseball Wins State AA Title

Minneapolis, Minn. - The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers went into Thursday's State AA Championship Game with just one loss on the season and that was to their title game opponents from Minnehaha Academy. The Hilltoppers would get revenge on the biggest stage as top-seeded Duluth Marshall defeated the second-seeded Redhawks 4-2 at Target Field.

It's the first-ever state baseball title for Duluth Marshall.

The Hilltoppers were down 2-0 until the sixth inning when they'd score their first run. They'd get the lead in the seventh, scoring three runs.

Carter Sullivan's RBI triple broke a 2-2 tie. Starting pitcher Ben Pedersen had nine strikeouts across 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits to secure the win.

It is the third straight season Duluth Marshall reached the state tournament. It is the second straight season that they played for the Class AA Championship.
