Northwestern Falls to No. 1 Martin Luther in State Semifinals

The mighty Spartans of Martin Luther lived up to their No. 1 state ranking downing Northwestern by a final score of 96-61 in the the Division 3 semifinals in the WIAA state boys basketball tournament.

This marked the Tigers first state tournament appearance since 2010. Northwestern was led by senior Brody Payton’s who tallied 19 points, which included 5-of-6 shooting on 3-pointers. Junior Andrew Klobucher was next with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

Northwestern ends their season with 21-6 overall record.

Martin Luther's senior guard Trequan Carrington scored a record-setting 41 points.

The Spartans will play the winner of Waupun (25-1) or Denmark (22-5) in the championship game at 2:30 PM on Saturday.
