Northland baseball walks off North Central in final home opener

Northland’s Caden Willis put the ball in play in the 9th inning, resulting in an error from North Central, giving the Lumberjacks their 5th win of the season, 5-4.

Down a run in the 1st inning, Vinny Cooney was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to even the score at 1-1. The Jacks would give up three runs, but then, the comeback was on.

In the 4th, Tyler Murphy grounded out and Ridge Guyette reached on an error to cut the deficit to just one run. In the fifth though, Cooney evened the game with a line drive to right field.

Tied in the 9th, Willis reached on an error, gifting the Jacks a win. The Jacks are back in action on Saturday for a 1/3 p.m. doubleheader.
