Grand Rapids' Noble Hall Turf Field Set to be Completed by August

Construction isn't usually something Minnesotans look forward to, but when it comes to the installation of a new turf field, that's something they can get behind.

Construction is fully underway at Noble Hall Field in Grand Rapids.

It started June 8th after fundraising efforts were able to come up with $700,000 to move the project forward.

Grand Rapids High School has had a shortage of fields with only one performance field and one practice field. They were shared by 13 varsity and junior varsity activities, plus nearly 250 marching band students.

The research committee working on the project estimates that Noble Hall Field could go from hosting 40 games annually to over 250.

"I'm excited to be able to come in here on a Saturday and Sunday and see kids and the community using the field. [We're] changing it from a monument to growing grass to something that can be used by the whole community," said Greg Spahn, the head coach for Grand Rapids football.

The field is expected to be completed this August and could extend the field's season by five months.
