Nelson Nets Hat Trick, CEC Advances to Class A Championship Game

The Cloquet-Esko Carlton girls hockey team advanced to the Class A state girls hockey championship game with a 5-3 victory over Warroad Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.

CEC got out to an early 2-0 lead following the first period thanks to two goals by Taylor Nelson. The 'Jacks were scoreless in the second until Nelson netted her third goal for the hat trick. Kiana Bender added two goals in the Lumberjacks victory.

After CEC's semifinal victory, Breck defeated fifth seeded Rochester Lourdes 9-1 in their semifinal match. The Lumberjacks will face top-seeded Breck in the state championship game set for Saturday at 4 P.M.
