Back-To-Back! Bulldogs Defeat UMass 3-0 to Win 2nd Straight NCAA Title

Buffalo, N.Y. - The UMD Men's Hockey had a chance to win back-to-back NCAA Championships and they did, defeating UMass 3-0 in the NCAA Title Game at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. UMD now has three NCAA Titles, all this decade (2011, 2018, 2019).

UMD becomes the first team since Denver (2004 and 2005) to repeat as National Champions.

UMD took a quick lead when Parker Mackay scored on a power play with 16:09 remaining. The Bulldogs would lead 1-0 after one period.

In the second period, Mikey Anderson doubled the Dogs' lead with a tally with 4:12 remaining in the period. UMD will continue to lead 2-0 after two periods.

In the third period, with 2:42 to go, Jackson Cates scored to give UMD a 3-0 lead.

Hunter Shepard stopped all 18 shots he saw in goal.

Mackay was named the Most Outstanding Player for the tournament.

UMD is now 21-6 in NCAA Tournament Games with Head Coach Scott Sandelin at the helm.

The Bulldogs played for the National Title for the fifth time. They are now 3-2 in those games. UMD is also the first team since Boston College (2006-2008) to play in the NCAA Title Game three straight years.
