Shepard, Wolff to Captain 2019-2020 UMD Men's Hockey Team

Seniors Hunter Shepard and Nick Wolff were selected to captain the two-time defending NCAA National Champion University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey program for the upcoming 2019-2020 season, head coach Scott Sandelin and his staff announced on Tuesday.

Wolff served as an alternate captain during the 2018-2019 season. The defender set a new career high in points scoring five goals and tallying 13 assists last season. In his career at UMD, the Eagen, Minnesota native has 14 goals and 29 assists in 123 games. Wolff spent his third-straight summer in NHL Development camp with the Boston Bruins.

Shepard, the team's reigning MVP, concluded his junior year having started 81 straight games for the Bulldogs. He earned First Team All-American distinction to go with NCHC Goaltender of the Year. The Cohasset, Minnesota native has 15 shutouts in his career, stopping 92.4 percent of pucks that come his way for a 1.84 GAA in his 85 games played. To date, Shepard has posted a 54-27-3 record as the Bulldogs' netminder, good for a .643 winning percentage in his starts.
