A University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey official confirmed Thursday afternoon that sophomore goaltender Ryan Fanti will be out for the Bulldogs' NCAA Frozen Four match against the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Thursday evening.

This is due to Covid-19 protocols.

The official is uncertain at this time if Fanti would be available on Saturday if UMD advances to the championship game. The rest of UMD's roster is expected to be available.

UMass will be missing four players due to Covid-19 protocols.

Fanti has started 19 games so far this season. He boasts a .907 save percentage and 2.4 goals against average with 446 total saves.

UMD is set to drop the puck against UMass in the first round of the Frozen Four Thursday at 8pm at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
