Camp Underway For NAHL's Wilderness With New Coach

Cloquet, Minn. - The North American Hockey League (NAHL) season for 2019-20 is fast approaching and the Cloquet-based Minnesota Wilderness held their first week of preseason camp.

This season marks the first with Jon Vaillancourt at the helm. He joined the coaching staff in the offseason, but was promoted to Head Coach as Dave Boitz is focusing on General Manager duties. Boitz was Head Coach and General Manager.

Vaillancourt is a former Head Coach and General Manager of the Coulee Region Chill in the NA3HL (Tier 3).

2018-19 was the sixth season in the NAHL for the Wilderness. For the first time, they missed the playoffs. The road to returning to postseason play begins September 18th vs Topeka in Blaine, Minnesota as part of the NAHL Showcase.

One of the Wilderness' returning players is forward Nate Horn. He was recently named to Team NAHL and played on the squad that competed in the Sirius Junior Club World Cup Tournament in Russia. Duluth native Austin Jouppi of the Bismarck Bobcats was also on the Team NAHL roster.
