The North American Hockey League's (NAHL) Cloquet-based Minnesota Wilderness will open their season with four battles in Blaine at the NAHL Showcase.

Heading into their first action they have about a dozen returners, which should benefit the team this season.

"It is cut about right in half and is a good mix," said Minnesota Wilderness head coach and general manager Dave Boitz. "We have some good, new, young guys that have come in and it is a good mix for what we think can be a really good hockey team," he added.

"Feels like there really is no barrier and all of these rookies are stepping up and being really mature and it has really showed on the ice. The chemistry is really strong," said Wilderness defenseman Colin Baird.

This season marks Boitz's first season as head coach. They've already won a couple exhibition games.

The regular season starts on the 19th against Johnstown. Their home opener will be on the 28th against Aberdeen.
