Blankenship, Kampf Win at 2017 Minnesota Mile Titles

Duluth, Minn. - Ben Blankenship, won the 2017 Grandma’s Marathon Minnesota Mile Men's Championship on Skyline Parkway. Blankenship, 28, who won in 2013 on the previous Minnesota Mile course, finished in 4 minutes, 7.0 seconds and claimed the first-place prize of $2,500. Trevor Dunbar of Boulder, CO placed second in 4:07.2 and Boulder’s Riley Masters, was third in 4:07.4.

Team USA Minnesota Member, Heather Kampf, 30, of Minneapolis, MN claimed the women’s division title and $2,500 with a winning time of 4:41.6. Monicah Ngige, 23, of Lansing, MI, placed second with a time of 4:41.9. Rachel Schneider of Johnson City, TN was third with a time of 4:42.2.

Matt Thull, 42, claimed the men’s master’s title with a time of 4:57.9. Melissa Gacek of White Bear Lake, MN won the women’s master’s title with a time of 5:45.8.

A total of 494 people registered for the Grandma’s Minnesota Mile on the new course on Skyline Parkway, which featured a men’s and women’s elite division and recreational division.
