Hibbing's Mallorie Iozzo Making an Impact for UMD Women's Hockey

Duluth, Minn. - While Scott Perunovich earned NCHC Rookie of the Week honors for the UMD Men's Hockey Team, a fellow Hibbing native is making an impact on the women's team too. ,P> Four games in and freshman forward Mallorie Iozzo has two points, including a goal. The 5th ranked Bulldogs (2-2-0) visit 7th ranked Ohio State (3-0-1) Friday and Saturday. The Buckeyes just swept the Gophers (including a shootout win). Iozzo looks to help the Bulldogs return to the win column and continue her progression.

"Obviously college hockey is more (difficult) and everyone is there for a reason and I can definitely tell - like the speed," says Iozzo.

"She has great wheels and can fly out there and she has a knack for scoring as we saw against Penn State," says Head Coach Maura Crowell.

UMD visits Ohio State Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs are coming off two losses at #3 Boston College.
