Lumberjack World Championships in Full Swing

Competition is in full swing at the "Olympics of the Forest" in Hayward. Spectators and competitors alike came from all over for the 61st Annual Lumberjack World Championships.

The three-day event began with qualifying competitions midday before opening ceremonies at 5:45pm. The Professional Quarterfinal Competition was at 6pm on Thursday. The Professional Semi-Final Competition will be on Friday, at the same time.

Saturday’s events include a "Lumberjack Run 5k" at 8am, Novice Finals and Axe Throwing Competitions at 1pm, and the World Championship Finals Competition at 6pm.

Chopping, log rolling, speed climbing, sawing, axe throwing, and boom running are all part of the Lumberjack World Championships. In addition to the variety of contests, this family-friendly event has a log rolling area for spectators, concession stands, bounce houses, and even Smokey the Bear.
