Originally from Superior, Wisconsin the Bergman family used to be a hockey family. However after moving to Hayward brothers Cole and Kaden swapped skates for cleats.

Once they grew out of youth soccer programs in the area, the Bergman boys decided to start an amateur team.

Three years ago, enlisting the help of their father Devin, they formed the Hayward United SC Wolfpack.

"There was a different youth club here and then they ended up merging. So when we started the adult team he was the high school coach, so we asked him to help out a little bit and that's kind of how we got here," said Kaden Bergman, a coach and captain for the Wolfpack.

"From my perspective it's very special watching these guys compete. I don't really play too much anymore and didn't grow up with it but it's quite an awesome sport," said Devin Bergman, father to Cole and Kaden and a coach for Hayward.

It was a trip to a Barcelona, and a chance to catch a soccer game there, that sparked Devin's love for soccer. He went on to coach youth teams, passing passion for the sport on to his kids. Even his daughter, Kaden and Cole's sister, plays on the pitch.

"We definitely grew into soccer as we got a little older and we enjoy it," Kaden said.

Now Devin tracks substitutions and statistics for the Wolfpack. While his sons 19-year-old Cole is in the net, and 21-year-old Kaden leads as a coach and captain.

Having played together since they were four years old, the Bergmans said their chemistry makes a huge difference on the field.

"I think last year, the first goal of the season, I was playing in net and I threw the ball to him (Kaden) and got the first assist of the year. He like ran it up all the way," said Hayward goalkeeper Cole Bergman.

Outside of the Wolfpack, Cole attends UW-Superior and Kaden plays soccer for Viterbo University.

The father and sons all appreciate their time together in Hayward, even if they bicker.

"We quarrel every once and a while," laughed Kaden. "There's always healthy conversation," Devin added. "It's always good though, just being together as a family, it's fun."
