Hermantown Breaks Ground on New Stadium, Turf Field

Hermantown fields are getting an upgrade. On Monday school officials broke ground on the Hermantown School District's new stadium and turf field.

Situated behind Hermantown High School, Centricity Credit Union Stadium and Corey Veech Field will be utilized by multiple athletic programs.

Centricity Credit Union President Doug Ralston and Hermantown Athletics Director Beth Clark agreed the partnership will help grow physical education in the community.

"This is an opportunity that we did not see coming, but we got people in the right room at the right time and things just clicked. We're very very proud to be able to contribute to this new adventure for the high school," said Doug Ralston, the Centricity Credit Union President.

Clark added that the turf field will help keep games in town when rain or snow hits.

"We don't have to worry about losing games or having to reschedule games or going somewhere else and play an event. We now won't have to worry about playoff time when the end of the season comes along in an October where the field can be all mushy. Now we don't have to worry about those things. We can just schedule our games and play games as need be and provide for our kids a safe environment," said Beth Clark, the Hermantown Athletic Director.

The opening celebration for the new facility will wait for the school calendar and athletic seasons to be finalized, according to the press release.

Construction will continue throughout the summer.
