First-time participants and veteran runners were invited to kick start their training process. Along with keynote speakers and merchandise up for sale, new breakout sessions were offered to help runners prepare for the race.

"The breakouts include yoga, self-defense, strength and conditioning. We also have a race course and medical portion. Then, we have a nutrition breakout," said Grandma's Marathon Marketing and Public Relations Director Mandi Peterson.

The next Grandma's Marathon series race is the Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk. That is set to take place Saturday, April 27.
