Gondik Law Speedway Gearing Up for 4th Annual Great Lakes Border Battle

The Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. will host their 4th Annual Great Lakes Border Battle over the holiday weekend.

The engines start revving up Thursday night. The event will feature three full days of racing. Six classes will race, with Modifieds being the top draw, racing for $1,500 to win Thursday, $2,000 to win Friday and $2,500 to win Saturday.

They will be joined by Super Stocks ($1,000 to win each day), Midwest Modifieds ($1,000), Mod-Fours ($500), Pure Stocks ($250) and Hornets ($150).

City fireworks that are scheduled for 10 P.M on Saturday.

Gondik Law Speedway opened up back in May and this weekend already marks it's 10th show.

"The crowd has been really good and we've been able to keep them spaced apart enough. The nice thing is people are still looking for something to do and we have a new class we brought in last year that we brought in halfway through called the hornets. explained Gondik Law Speedway Promoter Joe Stariha. A 14-year-old kid that has been watching racing for his whole life can go racing and more and more kids are getting into it," he added.

Hibbing Raceway had its season opener on Saturday while Grand Rapids Speedway is scheduled to open Thursday, July 9.
