Giddings earns state championship, five Northlanders earn top five finish in state track meet

The 2025 state track and field meet has come to a close, and one Northlander is coming home a state champion. She is Two Harbors’ own Trinity Giddings.

Giddings held off Ely’s Violet Udovich to win the class a girls 400 meter dash in 56.50 seconds, just .34 seconds ahead of the second place Udovich.

They are two of five Northlanders to earn top five finishes at state.

Hermantown’s Martin Sleen took second in the Class AA 200 meter dash and third in the 100 meter dash.

Cloquet’s Makenzie Lynch raced to third place in the Class AA 300 meter hurdles, and Mesabi East’s Evan James claimed third in the Class A 110 meter.
