He is a three-sport athlete for the Thunderhawks and won a state title in high school nordic ski as a junior in 2018.

He'll attend training camps this summer ahead of the winter race season and will get coaching by multiple-time U.S. Olympian Tim Burke. Beckrich is highly ranked, figuring he's somewhere between 7th and 9th in his division. So, are the olympics a goal?

"The top five go to the Olympics someday, but that's a long ways for me to say that I would want to go there. But yes, that is definitely something that is on the plate," says Beckrich.

Biathlon isn't offered by the NCAA, so Beckrich is planning to have a gap year before enrolling into college. He'll spend this year training.

Vasek Cervenka of Grand Rapids was also selected to the junior national team. Former CSS skier Paul Schommer has been named to the men's national team and ex-CSS women's skier Kelsey Dickinson has been named to the development group.
