Five former Bulldogs sign new NHL contracts

In the thick of NHL free agency University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey alums are whirling around the league, making a plethora of new pro deals this week.
Among them are netminders, former Bulldog captain, Hunter Shepard and Ryan Fanti.
Shepard, a Cohasset native, signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Ottawa Senators organization. He has been with the Washington Capitals and their AHL affiliate the Hershey Bears since 2020.
Fanti, previously with the Syracuse Crunch, has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Meanwhile, Duluth native Dominic Toninato has inked a two-year, two-way deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Riley Tufte is back in Boston for a second season, signing a one-year, two-way contract.
Fellow Bruin Cole Koepke, of Hermantown, is departing Boston inking a one-year, $1,000,000 contract with the Winnipeg Jets. With Boston last season he scored 10 goals adding seven assists in 73 games.
