No. 16 Eveleth-Gilbert & No. 2 Hermantown Boys, No. 4 CEC Girls Notch Wins

In prep hockey Thursday, the No. 16 Eveleth-Gilbert boys defeated Virginia/MIB in potentially their final match as two separate teams. No. 2 Hermantown boys and the No. 4 Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls also notched wins.  


No. 16 Eveleth-Gilbert defeated Virginia/MIB 4-1. 

In between the second and third periods of the Virginia/MIB vs. Eveleth/Gilbert match, the teams announced the name of their new school and new team, the Rock Ridge Wolverines. 

"The kids have really come together already. Our consolidation target date is July 1st. The kids are together, we do lots of different things together with sharing and pairing. We are really just super excited for it," said Gilbert principal Todd Griepentrog in the Eveleth-Gilbert school district.

No. 2 Hermantown shutout Proctor 6-0 in Hermantown. 

No. 4 Cloquet-Esko-Carlton took down Grand Rapids/Greenway 5-1.
